Born in the city
Raised on the farm
Where the sunset sure is pretty
And the fire's nice and warm
The city lights they blind me
Flashing neon signs
I leave it all behind me
I love starry skies
And I find some peace of mind out in the country
Everything I see is a part of me
A place where I can work and raise a family
A place where I can breathe and be free
It's another golden sunrise
Another sunny day
Children in the school yard
I love to watch 'em play
Papa tends the wheat field
He's always up at dawn
Mamma feeds the ponies
And helps me with the lawn
And I find some peace of mind out in the country
Everything I see is a part of me
A place where I can work and raise a family
A place where I can breathe and be free
And I have to tell you now
What a lucky man I am
To have witnessed all the beauty
And the pleasures of the land
And I hope I'm still around to see
The children come to know
All the love and hope and happiness
And the promise of a rainbow
