Son Of A Gun

People took notice when I was just a lad
'bout the way I took after dear ole' dad
He's a chip off of the old block they say
and Heaven help us if he stays that way

I never really knew what that meant
I just tagged along everywhere he went
Momma says that I'm her little bundle of joy
but most folks say "I'm my daddy's boy"

Ya see daddy is a little on the wild side
he told me "life is just like an eight second ride"
Ya gotta kick it in the ribs and then hold on tight
and if ya take it like a man you're gonna be alright

So go ahead and say it that's fine with me
The apple don't fall far from the tree
Ya know what they say like father like son
Daddy is a pistol and I'm a son of a gun

Daddy aint perfect that's plain to see
but he always took care of his family
I've never been accused of bein' coy
and I'll darn sure never be a momma's boy

When we get together just daddy and me
There aint nothin' gonna get in our way and we
Like to raise a little hell drink fight and cuss
and we don't give a dern what they say about us

We're just a couple them good ole' boys
Out to have some fun and to make some noise
We aint never meant to mean no harm
Two of a kind we like to bet the farm

So go ahead and say it that's fine with me
The apple don't fall far from the tree
Ya know what they say like father like son
Daddy is a pistol and I'm a son of a gun

The apple don't fall far from the tree
Now I can't help it 'cause that's just me
Ya know what they say like father like son
Daddy is a pistol and I'm a son of a gun
