by Sunny Waters
The lake is calm today
It reflects the mountains in their cloudy haze
Tree trunks break the surface just enough to make their presence known
An occasional wake is made by fish surfacing to feed or capture the life giving warmth of the sun
Birds light for a drink or quick bath unaware that they are an important part of the lake's character
Clouds passing over shower their reflections with shades of blue and grey, returning what they once
borrowed and keeping the cycle in it's perpetual state
A gentle breeze sweeps across the land
The lake is calm today
As for tomorrow . . . who can know
